Stirrup and Mariah Brown. \n\n\n\nAs part of the tour\, enjoy a special look inside Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church\, which just celebrated its 130th anniversary! \n\n\n\nTicket includes complimentary pass to Museum of Miami. \n\n\n\nPresented in collaboration with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMembers: $25\, Non-Members: $35\, Children 14 & Under: $15\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Register \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFeatured Speakers & Sites:\n\n\n\n\nIngrid E. ArguetaCoordinator of Education Programs and Community Engagement\n\n\n\nIngrid E. Argueta was born in Guatemala and immigrated to Miami when she was 7 years old. Although not a native Miamian\, she is a 305-er at heart. Ingrid has remained true to her indigenous roots and is passionate about Native American history and culture. She is best known for her eco-history tours of Miami’s historic sites\, neighborhoods\, and waterways. Ingrid currently serves as Museum of Miami’s Coordinator of Education Programs and Community Engagement and has been with the museum for over 10 years. \n\n\n\n\n\nPaul S. George\, Ph.D.Resident Historian\n\n\n\nFor over three decades\, Museum of Miami’s Resident Historian Dr. Paul S. George has toured his way to local\, national\, and international acclaim with his continuing series of historic tours. Through walking\, coach\, and boat tour experiences\, Dr. George has welcomed tour participants on a memorable journey of South Florida through its historic neighborhoods\, landmarks\, and sites. As a Miami native\, author\, and former college professor\, Dr. George has gained fame for his uncanny ability to recall the most impressive details about the people and places that make South Florida so unique. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Barnacle Historic State Park\n\n\n\nBuilt in 1891\, The Barnacle offers a glimpse of frontier life during the Era of the Bay\, when all travel to and from Miami was by sea. Situated on the shore of Biscayne Bay\, this was the home of Ralph Middleton Munroe\, one of Coconut Grove’s most charming and influential pioneers. Munroe preserved the forest on his land\, cutting out only a winding buggy trail through the hammock — barely wide enough for one vehicle. As a result\, the property contains many large\, old trees. Left in its natural state\, The Barnacle Historic State Park appears much as it did in Munroe’s day. \n\n\n\n\n\nMacedonia Missionary Baptist Church\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Information\n\n\n\nPlease see below for additional information regarding the tour.
