DESCRIPTION:Find us in the Normandy Shores Community!\n\n\n\nNormandy Shores is an island and a neighborhood located within the City of Miami Beach with stunning views across Biscayne Bay. The “Normandy” in the island’s name stems from the developmental activities of Henri Levi\, who hailed from Normandy\, France\, and who created neighborhoods and communities in North Beach\, sometimes with “Normandy” as part of their names\, in the Boom era of the 1920s. \n\n\n\nExplore stories of Normandy Shores and North Beach with the Museum of Miami’s Resident Historian\, Dr. Paul S. George. \n\n\n\nSeating is available first-come\, first-served. George\, Ph.D.Resident Historian\n\n\n\nPaul S. George is an award-winning author\, Miaminative\, and former college professor; and currentlyserves as Resident Historian of the Museum of Miami(formerly HistoryMiami Museum)\, a SmithsonianAffiliate located in downtown Miami\, where he engagesMiami’s vibrant communities through stories of itslayered past. \n\n\n\nDr. George has authored numerous books\, articles\, book reviews\, columns\, and unpublished manuscripts; and curated several exhibitions at museums in Miami. He has served in leadership roles in historical and preservation organizations throughout South Florida\, including President of the Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archive and President of the Florida Historical Society\, among others.Dr. George has been recognized extensively by the Miami community for his dedication and leadership and has been honored by organizations across South Florida. \n\n\n\nDr. George is the editor of Tequesta\, the scholarly journal of the Museum of Miami\, is a member of Metro Dade County’s Preservation Board\, and a professor emeritus of history at Miami-Dade College.
