Miami has always been a city of stories – told on front porches, across kitchen tables, and on street corners. Since 2009, the Museum of Miami has been listening through our oral history initiative, Miami Stories.

Locals are legends here. Through written reflections, audio, and video recordings, Miami Stories captures stories from anyone and everyone about life in the Magic City. Each voice added to the archive is a thread in the larger fabric of Miami’s past, present, and future.

Every Voice Shapes Miami.

Museum of Miami accepts written stories on a rolling basis.

We welcome written stories between 500-1,000 words about life in Miami. We encourage storytellers to submit a photo with their written story.

Tell your story:

  • How did you or your family get to Miami?
  • When do you feel like a Miamian?
  • What would you miss if you left Miami?
  • What makes Miami, Miami?
  • What do you see for Miami’s future?
