Museum of Miami is happy to announce the first History Expo on March 3rd and 4th, 2027.
The History Expo will give our 4th and 5th grade students the chance to become real historians, discovering the incredible stories that shaped our city.
The inaugural theme is “Innovation in History: Impact, Influence, Change.” Corresponding to National History Day. Students will research new ideas, inventions, or methods from the past that directly impacted Miami and South Florida. After analyzing and interpreting the information they have gathered, students express their findings in a exhibit.
History Expo will be held on March 3rd and 4th, 2027 at Museum of Miami.

This framework supports 4th and 5th-grade classroom integration of historical thinking skills based on the National History Day’s 2027 theme with adaptations for 4th and 5th grade students, a focus on local Miami history, and using the National History Day’s project description for “Exhibition.”
Students are encouraged to research primary and secondary sources through archives, digital archives, libraries, museums, and historic sites. A solid foundation of primary sources with supporting secondary sources are vital to a successful project.
