Join the Museum of Miami’s Resident Historian, Dr. Paul S. George for an evening of guided conversation and reflection centered around the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Hear stories of our nation’s founding within the context of the era and how this pivotal moment in history continues to inspire us today. Gain new insights and understanding through this interactive discussion.

This program is offered FREE to the public. Seating is available first-come, first-served. No reservation required. Please plan to arrive early to ensure preferred seating. Program hosted by Village of Key Biscayne.

Paul S. George, Ph.D.
Resident Historian

Paul S. George is an award-winning author, Miami
native, and former college professor; and currently
serves as Resident Historian of the Museum of Miami
(formerly HistoryMiami Museum), a Smithsonian
Affiliate located in downtown Miami, where he engages
Miami’s vibrant communities through stories of its
layered past.

Dr. George has authored numerous books, articles, book reviews, columns, and unpublished manuscripts; and curated several exhibitions at museums in Miami. He has served in leadership roles in historical and preservation organizations throughout South Florida, including President of the Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archive and President of the Florida Historical Society, among others.
Dr. George has been recognized extensively by the Miami community for his dedication and leadership and has been honored by organizations across South Florida.

Dr. George is the editor of Tequesta, the scholarly journal of the Museum of Miami, is a member of Metro Dade County’s Preservation Board, and a professor emeritus of history at Miami-Dade College. He is a graduate of Miami Dade Community College and the University of Miami; and holds a master’s and a Ph.D. in History from Florida State University.
